2Ri Robotics specializes in FANUC robot parts, refurbishment, and board-level repair. In our 14,000 sq. ft. Guelph facility, we diagnose failures and repair PCBs down to the component level—because “swap the board” isn’t a diagnosis.

We’re hiring an Electronic Engineering Technologist focused primarily on bench-level PCB troubleshooting, component replacement, and verification testing, with regular local onsite support at customer facilities. We’ll train you on FANUC-specific hardware and failure modes, but you should arrive with strong foundational electronics knowledge and confident soldering/rework skills.
Typical Time Split
- 75% Bench repair & testing
- 5% Test development / R&D support
- 20% On-site service visits
What You’ll Do
- Component-level troubleshooting & repair: Diagnose and repair PCBs to the component level (capacitors, regulators, ICs, transistors, connectors, etc.) using schematics, measurements, and methodical fault isolation.
- Precision soldering & rework: Through-hole and SMD removal/replacement with high workmanship standards.
- Test & verification: Use standard bench instruments (oscilloscope, multimeter, bench power supply, fixtures) to validate repairs and confirm performance.
- Test documentation: Create and improve test procedures, capture results, and maintain clean, repeatable processes (including ESD-safe practices).
- Reverse engineering & sketch schematics: Trace circuits and create clear hand-sketched schematics/notes as needed (we can train you on the software used to formalize drawings).
- On-site support (local travel): Troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and support at client facilities within roughly a 300 km radius (includes major highways).
What We’re Looking For
- Diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology/Technician (or equivalent hands-on experience).
- Proven experience with manual soldering and de-soldering of through-hole and SMD components.
- Strong troubleshooting skills: able to read schematics, take measurements, and find “needle-in-a-haystack” failures.
- Able to document work clearly (repair notes, test steps, results).
Driving requirement (important):
Valid Ontario driver’s license, minimum 5 years licensed driving history, and comfortable driving on major highways as required for site visits.
Must be able to provide a driving record (driver’s abstract) from the Ontario Ministry of Transportation upon request.
Must have a reliable personal vehicle. For the majority of site visits, a company vehicle is provided.
Additional Qualifications (Not Required)
- Experience improving test procedures or building simple test fixtures.
- Experience in industrial equipment, automation, or robotics environments.

Pay: $60,000.00-$93,600.00 per year

- Troubleshooting down to the component level can be incredibly tedious. When you've been staring at the same board for three hours and nothing makes sense, how do you reset your brain so you don't lose your cool?
- This role sometimes requires up to 8 hours of overtime per week, which may include early mornings, late evenings, or weekends. Are you able to meet this requirement?
- Are you able to lift and maneuver items weighing up to 50 lbs to chest height for short periods (1–2 minutes at a time), up to approximately six times per day?
