Job Summary:
We currently have an open position for a Maintenance Manager to join our team on the day shift (7:00 am - 4:00 pm). This role is responsible for driving uptime, building systems, and leading a team of maintenance technicians of all 6 Ontario sites, and supporting Capital Projects as needed in the province. They manage site safety, facilities, services, projects, equipment, contractor oversite, and ensures repairs are done on time while meeting all internal and external customer needs and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Model the company’s Vision, Mission and Values and ensure all maintenance employees model the same
- Oversee day-to-day maintenance activities for all 6 Ontario sites, provide leadership and direction to the maintenance staff and contractors
- Ensure all scheduled preventative maintenance tasks are completed, and addresses emergency breakdowns as required
- Build and enhance current preventative maintenance activities and ensure preventative maintenance tasks are identified during the commissioning of new equipment
- Maintain and review critical spare inventories for all sites
- Promote and enforce a culture of safety, evaluation of concerns, and ensure behavioral safety initiatives are performed to required goal levels at the site
- Ensure maintenance employees are properly trained, and their skills are regularly assessed to ensure developmental needs are addressed utilizing gap analysis from skills matrices and tailored training programs
- Support the installation of new equipment and commissioning of new project ensuring compliance with safety, quality and meeting customers’ needs
- Support as needed capex projects to completion and help ensure all projects are completed on time, in full and on budget
- Work with project champion(s) to help track project progress, commission equipment, variances and recovery
- Identify and reduce risks and provide accurate updates and forecasts
- Manage all project documentation and contract tasks. This includes price change orders, track requests for information, review of shop drawings, maintaining records (e.g. critical spare list, PMs, filing of drawings, change management documentation and new equipment checklist) and keeping all stakeholders informed
- Regularly review maintenance performance data (downtime, equipment performance etc.) to identify team gaps and propose short-term and long-term solutions to address them
- Work in an effective and cross-functional manner with all members of the plant management team
- Support maintenance team with regularly communicating progress of maintenance planning schedule and plant goals to all department employees
- Continuously evaluate maintenance department’s performance and focus on continuous improvement in areas of opportunity/non-compliance
- Monitor and control maintenance operating expenses and identify cost savings opportunities
- Oversee maintenance and support the project areas to ensure compliance with all quality programs and standards such as ISO, CropLife etc.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
- 5+ years or equivalent experience in a maintenance leadership role
- Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to drive and manage change
- Previous experience with CMMS implementation and upkeep and asset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel
- Knowledge of appropriate materials, methods and the tools required in various assembly processes
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and planning
- A strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize effectively
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Critical thinker with high accountability and sound decision-making skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
Working Conditions:
- Comfortable around chemical operations
- Able to lift at least 50lbs
- Some travel may be required; must have a driver’s license
- Overtime as required
