Join CGI as a Senior Java Developer within our Banking Services Division. In this role, you will develop, maintain, and support enterprise Java applications that power critical banking services.
Hybrid. This role requires working from the CGI Downtown Toronto office and/or the client office at Toronto, a minimum of 3 days per week, subject to change.
Your future duties and responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise Java applications and backend services.
- Develop and support Java-based batch processing applications and integration components.
- Administer and troubleshoot applications running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7/8/9).
- Develop automation and operational scripts using Bash/Shell scripting.
- Build and manage Java applications using Apache Maven.
- Support and optimize JVM-based applications using OpenJDK and Oracle JDK.
- Develop and maintain integrations using IBM MQ messaging services.
- Design and develop database connectivity solutions using Oracle Database (12c/19c) and JDBC.
- Manage scheduled jobs using CRON and support production deployments.
- Participate in source control, CI/CD pipelines, and script-based deployment processes while collaborating with development, infrastructure, and operations teams.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
- 8+ years of experience developing enterprise Java applications.
- Strong experience administering and supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7/8/9).
- Proficiency in Java (Java 8 or higher).
- Strong experience with Bash/Shell scripting.
- Experience with OpenJDK and/or Oracle JDK.
- Experience building applications using Apache Maven.
- Experience developing and supporting JVM-based backend and batch services.
- Hands-on experience with IBM MQ messaging.
- Strong knowledge of Oracle Database (12c/19c) and JDBC connectivity.
- Experience configuring and managing CRON jobs.
- Experience working with source control systems and CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience with script-based application deployments.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Nice to have
- Experience working within banking or financial services environments.
- Experience supporting production applications in Linux environments.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and automation tools.
- Experience with application performance monitoring and production support.
- Knowledge of Agile development methodologies.
CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $95,000–$145,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
