What you will be doing in the role of Technician, Mechanical Services - Senior:
- Lead service engagements from planning through execution and closeout
- Support proposal planning, estimation, and customer discussions
- Mentor and train technicians while sharing technical expertise
- Perform valve servicing (disassembly, inspection, repair, assembly, and testing) both in-shop and in the field
- Install, remove, and troubleshoot valves, actuators, and control systems
- Conduct on-site inspections, walkdowns, testing, data collection, and reporting
- Carry out instrument setup, calibration, and diagnostics using specialized tools
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to support installations and repairs
- Complete fabrication, assembly, testing, and replacement of components as needed
- Maintain accurate documentation, including inspection reports and time/expense tracking
- Ensure shop upkeep, equipment preparation, and shipping readiness
- Provide technical guidance to customers on system operation, safety, and maintenance
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships
- Act as a subject matter expert in designated product or service areas
- Respond to emergency service calls outside regular working hours as required
Knowledge and skills required for the role:
- Technician/Technologist diploma in a related field (e.g., mechanical, millwright, industrial) or equivalent vocational experience; Millwright certification considered an asset
- 15+ years of hands-on experience in valve repair, automation assembly, and field/shop service work
- Strong knowledge of valves, actuators (pneumatic, electric, hydraulic), instrumentation, and process automation systems
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications
- Experience with machining, millwrighting, welding, and working with ASME codes for safety relief devices
- Familiarity with ISO quality standards and regulated work environments
- Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and lifting/rigging equipment
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong customer service mindset
- Highly organized with strong time management and attention to detail
- Team-oriented with the ability to mentor others and contribute to a collaborative environment
- Results-driven, adaptable, and able to perform in high-pressure or emergency situations
