About the role: Reporting to the GIS/Property Information Supervisor in the Community Development department, this position is responsible for data input and maintenance, interactive digital and hard copy map production, data analysis and geospatial app development and documentation. Working with Municipal GIS resources, in co-operation with other staff and members of the community, the GIS Technician assists with the management of property information and uses GIS technology to support a variety of project initiatives and informed decision-making capabilities throughout the organization. Applicants must be knowledgeable of current industry techniques and technology and have demonstrated experience with the development of quality maps & web services, using Python scripts or Model Builder to develop Geoprocessing tools and automated tasks, and performing data analysis & Geodatabase management using Esri ArcGIS software products. The GIS Technician will be responsible for data queries and reports, updating and QA/QC of internal data, and maintaining shared map services. Occasional fieldwork for data collection outside of the office is required. The ability to effectively work independently will be an asset, while thriving within a productive and collaborative team environment.
This is a full-time, permanent, non-unionized, in-office position working 35 hours per week, Monday- Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm.

Education and Experience:
- Degree or Diploma in Geographic Information Systems or similar- equivalent experience may also be accepted.
- Two years of experience is an asset, however recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Experience using ESRI (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Enterprise, Survey123, etc.) or similar GIS software in a design and development environment.
- Experience using professional GPS units for data collection, and knowledge of various GIS data formats.
- Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop / Illustrator, and coding skills (SQL, HTML, JS, Python, Arcade, etc.) will be considered assets.
- Familiarity with aspects of municipal government, community planning and development, bylaws and permitting processes, property records and civic addressing is an asset.
