Full job description

HCC Mining & Demolition is a progressive and professional partner to Saskatchewan mining. We have been committed to safe and successful execution of underground contracts within the potash industry for twenty years. We value diversity and respect in the workplace.

We are currently hiring to fill a Journeyperson Welder position to work underground at our project at the Lanigan potash mine (although CWB Certified may also be considered based on experience and qualifications). A strong preference will be given to Journeypersons - however, a highly self-motivated apprentice may also be considered.

Underground CWB or Journey person Welders

This position is responsible for general welding duties for our projects executed at potash operations throughout Saskatchewan. You will bring to HCC experience and competency in reading and interpreting blueprints, operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment, repair worn part of metal products in underground mining applications. You will be required to work 12-hour day and/or night shifts.

Experience, Skills and Abilities:

Must have a minimum of 3 years of industry experience, ideally with exposure to underground mining
Preferably hold trade certification as a Journeyperson welder.
Must be a team player willing to participate in company safety and production requirements
Effective communication skills: must be able to carry out verbal instructions, read labels and signs, report progress or issues to supervision
Have good judgment and ability to make decisions
Responsible and dependable
Ability to lift heavy loads repeatedly through an entire work shift
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Able to pass any pre-access screening, including a Drug and Alcohol test
Valid Drivers License
Must be physically fit and able to work in various mining locations
Must be willing to work 12-hour shifts, day and/or night, typically on 7 days on, 7 days off work schedule
Previous welding experience, diesel tech experience, and/or hydraulics knowledge are considered strong assets.
