We are seeking two motivated, highly technical professionals to join our Messaging team, a Senior Messaging Analyst and a Messaging Analyst. While each role has distinct responsibilities based on the position description, both play a critical role in delivering reliable, modern, and secure IMT services that support the Government of Alberta.
Senior Messaging Analyst (SA3)
The Senior Messaging Analyst delivers technical analysis, design, implementation, support, and operations of IMT services, while providing technical leadership to ensure Messaging services remain stable, modern, and resilient. This role is accountable for service delivery, continuous improvement, and the successful implementation and management of IMT services. Working closely with GoA staff, contractors, external service providers, and leadership, the Senior Messaging Analyst provides expert guidance, drives operational excellence, and leads complex technical initiatives.
Responsibilities
Some of the responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Delivering and managing IMT services using Incident, Problem, Change, Project, Service, and Capacity Management principles.
- Leading the implementation, operation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of Messaging services.
- Maintaining service integrity, availability, security compliance, and alignment with cross-government ICT standards.
- Developing and maintaining technical documentation, procedures, standards, and operational best practices.
- Collaborating with Technology Support and Operations teams, business stakeholders, contractors, and external service providers to ensure timely service delivery.
- Leading complex projects, coordinating service testing and implementation activities, and driving operational efficiencies.
- Providing mentorship, technical leadership, and expert guidance to analysts while supporting branch planning and strategic initiatives.
Messaging Analyst (SA2)
The Messaging Analyst delivers technical analysis, design, implementation, support, and operations of IMT services, contributing to the ongoing stability, modernization, and resilience of the Messaging environment. Working collaboratively with GoA staff, contractors, external service providers, and Technology Support and Operations teams, this role supports service delivery, implements new technologies, and resolves technical and operational issues.
Responsibilities
Some of the responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Delivering IMT services through technical analysis, design, implementation, operations, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Applying Incident, Problem, Change, Project, Service, and Capacity Management principles to support reliable service delivery.
- Implementing new IMT services and service enhancements while maintaining service integrity and availability.
- Developing and maintaining technical documentation, procedures, tools, and support standards.
- Supporting clients and collaborating with Technology Support and Operations teams to resolve issues and enhance service delivery.
- Coordinating service testing, evaluations, and recommendations while maintaining alignment with cross-government ICT standards.
- Keeping current with emerging Messaging technologies, industry best practices, and security compliance requirements.

Requirements
Senior Messaging Analyst:
- University graduation in Computer Sciences, Information Technology or a related field.
- 4 years of related experience.
- Experience leading technical projects, coordinating cross-functional teams, mentoring junior analysts and collaborating with stakeholders, contractors, and external service providers.
Equivalencies:
- A related two-year diploma in computer technology or a related discipline from a recognized postsecondary institution and six (6) years related experience; or
- A related one-year certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution and seven (7) years related experience.
Messaging Analyst
- University graduation in Computer Sciences, Information Technology or a related field.
- 2 years of related experience.
Equivalencies:
- A related two-year diploma in computer technology or a related discipline from a recognized postsecondary institution and four (4) years related experience; or
- A related one-year certificate from a recognized institution and five (5) years related experience.
Required for both positions
- Experience supporting enterprise IT infrastructure, platforms, and technology services in a large-scale environment.
- Hands-on experience supporting and administering Microsoft 365 (M365) and enterprise messaging solutions.
- Experience architecting, implementing, and supporting secure, resilient, highly available enterprise technology solutions.
- Experience developing and maintaining technical documentation, support standards, operational procedures, and knowledge management resources.
- Strong experience in complex troubleshooting, root cause analysis, incident resolution, problem management, and technical issue remediation.
- Ability to work effectively independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams and high-pressure operational environments.
- Strong organizational, planning, prioritization, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives and communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audience.
Assets for both positions
- Knowledge of ITIL service management principles.
- ITIL Foundation certification.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, impact assessment, and evaluation skills with the ability to independently resolve complex technical challenges.
- Experience with enterprise architecture concepts, system integrations, technical dependencies, and interconnections across complex IT environments.

Term of Employment: Up to two (2) Full-Time Temporary (1-year term) positions, with the potential for an additional Permanent Full-Time opportunity.
Hours of Work: 7.25 hours daily / 36.25 weekly – Monday to Friday
Location: Remote across Alberta
These positions are eligible for remote work. You must reside in Alberta to work remotely for these positions.
