We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking individual to join our team as a Technology Architect – Integration (API, Data & Event Platforms). In this role, you will play a key part in shaping and advancing our enterprise integration strategy, driving the adoption of modern architecture patterns such as API-first and event-driven design. Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement, and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.
What you’ll do:
- Design and lead enterprise integration architecture across API, data, and event-driven platforms to support business and technology strategies
- Develop scalable, secure, and resilient integration solutions, including APIs, services, and event-driven architectures
- Define and govern integration standards (API design, data contracts, event schemas) and drive adoption of modern patterns such as API-first and microservices
- Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to translate complex requirements into effective, scalable solutions
- Evaluate and implement integration technologies (e.g., iPaaS, ESB, messaging, event streaming) aligned with enterprise goals
- Analyze existing systems to identify integration gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for optimization and modernization
- Ensure solutions meet security, privacy, regulatory, and performance requirements
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams while supporting best practices in integration design and delivery
- Troubleshoot complex integration issues, including API failures and cross-system data flow disruptions
- Develop integration roadmaps and contribute to continuous improvement by identifying innovation opportunities and emerging technologies
- Communicate architectural decisions and solution impacts clearly to technical and business stakeholders.
What you’ll bring:
- 2+ years of experience in IT solution design and development, with exposure to integration architecture and distributed systems
- Post-secondary degree (or equivalent experience) in computer science, software engineering, or a related discipline
- Strong knowledge of integration architecture patterns, including API-led connectivity, event-driven architecture, messaging, and microservices
- Experience designing and governing API ecosystems, including lifecycle management, versioning, and reuse strategies
- Hands-on experience with integration platforms and technologies (e.g., iPaaS, ESB, message brokers, event streaming tools)
- Understanding of data integration patterns, including batch, real-time, and streaming data processing
- Experience designing scalable, loosely coupled, and resilient integration solutions across cloud, SaaS, and legacy environments
- Knowledge of API security models (e.g., OAuth2, OpenID Connect) and secure data exchange practices
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex integration issues, including API failures and data flow disruptions
- Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions and architecture designs
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
