Radio-Canada is seeking an Assistant Producer, Sports and Olympics, to help bring TV broadcasts to air and produce digital programming.
This is a 8 month full time temporary assignment.
Key Tasks:
-
Assist the producer and step in on their behalf as delegated at various stages of production (e.g., shooting, location scouting, editing, audio mixing, music selection and on-air presentation). As delegated, direct control room operations (logging shot lists for isolated cameras, managing audio and visual screen assets).
-
Attend meetings to help determine TV and digital production requirements. Organize logistics as directed by the producer: draw up production timetables and schedules, book resources, arrange team travel, co-ordinate the delivery of costumes, props and scenic elements, etc. Prepare all or part of the production log. Track production expenses as assigned.
-
Source audio and video material from various providers. Research rates and terms for broadcast rights, acquiring material within authorized parameters and budgets.
-
Review and analyze scripts and breakdowns, highlighting key elements (sets, costumes, props, talent/guests). Write scene summaries and ensure they are distributed to relevant departments (e.g., Design, Costumes, Communications).
-
Plan, draft and adjust schedules for actors, musicians and other participants for rehearsals and shoots. Issue call sheets. Gather and compile the required details for contracts, artist fees and payroll documentation. Ensure these documents are drafted, signed and processed.
-
Prepare, verify and distribute documents related to the program or shoot, maintaining organized files. Enter, update and complete program data. Handle post-broadcast requests (licensing rights, clip requests, external inquiries, etc.).
-
Log, digitize and organize editing notes and shot selections.
-
Liaise with internal CBC/Radio-Canada departments and work closely with CBC Sports.
-
Review, verify and time program segments, stories and transmissions, reporting any quality issues. Log technical details (e.g., timings, international audio feeds, super in/out points, media labelling, sensitive content). Isolate and label stories, clips and visuals.
-
Assemble clips and visuals.
This is a hybrid role blending in-office and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines.
