Our team includes experienced APEGA-certified engineers, PMP-certified project managers, and one of Western Canada's largest groups of factory-trained technicians. We proudly support Heavy Industrial, Mining, Energy, Public Safety, Government, Commercial, and Municipal customers with reliable, integrated wireless communication systems where downtime is not an option.

Job Summary: Westcan Advanced Communications Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Technician to join our Edmonton location. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play an integral role in maintaining accurate financial records, processing accounting transactions, and supporting the preparation of financial reports. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with numbers, values and accuracy, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Record daily financial transactions using accounting software.
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable accurately and efficiently.
Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and general ledger accounts.
Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Prepare, review, reconcile, and file GST and PST returns.
Monitor outstanding invoices and follow up on overdue accounts.
Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation.
Assist with budget preparation and expense tracking.
Support internal and external audits by preparing and providing required documentation.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and government regulations.
Respond to inquiries from vendors, customers, and employees regarding financial matters.
Assist with other accounting and administrative duties as required.

What You Bring

Experience & Qualifications

Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum two (2) years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
Experience using an ERP or accounting system (AIMS, Sage, or similar platforms).
Experience preparing GST and PST filings is considered an asset.

Skills & Attributes

Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information with discretion.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
Positive attitude with a commitment to continuous improvement and professional excellence.

Compensation

This role offers a base salary of $50,000.00 - $65,000.00.
