Designed from the ground up, our new 20,000+ square foot, state-of-the-art Emergency and Specialty Hospital, located at 11650 18 Street NE, Calgary, Alberta, officially opened its doors with our Surgical Service in May 2026. We are now expanding our team as we launch our 24-hour Emergency Service.
Fuller Animal Specialty Hospital (Fuller Animal Inc.) is a family owned, referral-based small animal specialty hospital in Calgary, Alberta. Our mission is to provide exceptional patient care through compassion, collaboration, and clinical excellence.
Our hospital was designed with patient and employee comfort in mind. As a stand-alone building, we have windows throughout, bringing in natural light into all treatment areas. The dog ward and cat ICU wake up to the morning sun. The sun set is captured in our lobby, southwest facing exam rooms and employee areas. The first floor is the clinical area. We have multiple operating rooms, dog and cat ICU, multiple Canon radiology suites, Canon ultrasound rooms, special procedures area (endoscopy and dentistry), Canon computed tomography, large exam rooms designed for specialists and emergency clinicians, Idexx and Antech inhouse lab and a large treatment area. The second floor is for employees and continued education events.
We are seeking passionate, collaborative, and motivated Emergency Veterinarians, Veterinary Specialists and veterinary team members to help build and grow our hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a modern referral hospital, working alongside a highly skilled team of Registered Veterinary Technologists, Veterinary Assistants, and board-certified specialists.

Position Responsibilities
As an Emergency Veterinarian, you will:
- Assess, diagnose, and treat medical and surgical emergency cases.
- Perform patient triage and stabilize critically ill and injured patients.
- Develop diagnostic and treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs.
- Interpret laboratory results, radiographs, ultrasound findings, and other diagnostic tests.
- Perform emergency procedures, including wound management, thoracocentesis, abdominocentesis, urinary catheterization, and other life-saving interventions.
- Under the mentorship of Dr. Fuller, learn how to efficiently and safely perform emergency surgical procedures while using advanced electrocautery, vessel sealing devices and more.
- Collaborate closely with specialists, RVTs, and support staff to provide exceptional patient care.
- Manage hospitalized patients and oversee ongoing treatment plans.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients regarding diagnoses, treatment options, prognoses, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain accurate and thorough medical records using electronic medical record software.
- Participate in a collaborative, team-focused environment that prioritizes high-quality medicine and outstanding client service.
- Contribute to a positive hospital culture through mentorship, teamwork, and continuous learning.
Qualifications Applicants must:
Hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM).
Be licensed or eligible for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Alberta.
Possess strong clinical, diagnostic, and communication skills.
Be confident managing emergency cases independently while recognizing when collaboration is beneficial.
Thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Be willing to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and statutory holidays.
Previous emergency or specialty hospital experience is considered an asset but is not required.
