Full job description

We are seeking a full-time Pastry Cook to join our team. Candidates must have an exceptional work ethic, be able to work independently as well as part of a team and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining organization and cleanliness. Pay starts at $17.60 and will adjust depending on candidate's capabilities.

Responsibilities

Prepare pastry according to recipes, quality and presentation standards, and food prep checklists
Be organized and able to follow guidelines and procedures to avoid food and time waste
Safely and appropriately use baking and measuring tools/equipment/appliances to prepare baked foods.
Ability to produce according to tight deadlines or fast-paced periods
Follow and ensure compliance with food safety handling policies and procedures, including personal hygiene procedures.

Qualifications:

Post-secondary education in Culinary or Pastry Arts is a strong asset, or equivalent experience is an asset
Previous experience making cakes and pastry on a commercial level is an asset
Food Handler’s certification
Must have a positive attitude and be willing to take on diverse duties as this company grows
Must be able to multi-task
Ability to work full time, Wednesday to Sunday 6.00/6.30am-2.30/3.00pm
Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently
Ability to follow detailed written and/or verbal instructions, and a good level of communication in English both verbal and written
Candidate must be able to lift 45lb/25kg autonomously and do any physical movement commonly expected for a commercial kitchen job such as standing for prolonged amounts of time, reaching with hands and arms, and stooping or kneeling.
