Senior Java Spark Backend Developer
Location: MontrealExperience Level: Senior (7+ Years)

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Java Backend Developer to join our core engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining high-performance, scalable, and secure backend systems.

The ideal candidate will have over 7 years of enterprise Java development experience, a strong background in big data processing using Apache Spark, and a passion for engineering excellence. While this is primarily a backend role, knowledge of Angular UI is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:
System Architecture: Design, develop, and deploy robust, scalable, and microservices-based backend systems using Java and Spring Boot.
Data Processing: Architect and optimize large-scale, distributed data processing pipelines using Apache Spark.
Database Management: Write complex SQL/NoSQL queries and optimize database performance for high-throughput applications.
API Development: Design and implement secure, well-documented RESTful APIs.
Mentorship & Code Quality: Lead code reviews, enforce best practices, and mentor junior and mid-level developers.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with frontend teams, product managers, and DevOps to deliver seamless end-to-end features.

Required Technical Skills & Qualifications:
Experience: 7+ years of professional software development experience primarily focused on backend engineering.
Core Java: Deep expertise in Java (Java 8/11/17+), including multithreading, concurrency, memory management, and design patterns.
Frameworks: Extensive experience with Spring Ecosystem (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, Spring Data).
Big Data Frameworks: Proven track record of building and tuning production-grade data pipelines using Apache Spark (Core, SQL, or Streaming).
Databases: Strong knowledge of relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL solutions (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
Tools & DevOps: Proficiency with Git, CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab, or GitHub Actions), Maven/Gradle, and Docker.

Nice-to-Have Skills:
Frontend Knowledge: Familiarity or hands-on experience with Angular (TypeScript, RxJS, state management), enabling smooth full-stack collaboration.
Cloud Platforms: Experience deploying and managing applications on cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Container Orchestration: Knowledge of Kubernetes

Soft Skills:
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in an agile environment.
Proven ability to take ownership of projects from concept to deployment

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Montréal, QC (Montréal)
