The Opportunity:
Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking an Environmental Scientist / Engineer within our Environment department located in Snow Lake, MB. The successful applicant will be on a Monday-Friday schedule, with occasional scheduled weekend coverage. It will be based in the vibrant community of Snow Lake, MB, with relocation packages available.
The position includes a competitive compensation package which includes benefits, pension, profit sharing, employee share purchase plan among others.
Accountabilities:
· Responsible for environmental monitoring, operation of water treatment facilities, government compliance sampling (i.e. water, air, and soil quality), and calibration/maintenance of environmental equipment
· Reviews lab reports to ensure data is valid and in compliance with regulatory limits.
· Maintain sampling data and prepare draft reports related to environmental programs.
· Conduct site inspections in order to assess potential environmental impacts
Qualifications:
· Possession of a diploma or degree in environmental sciences or related discipline preferred.
· Demonstrates self motivation, a commitment to safety and teamwork, and a proven aptitude for problem solving.
· Demonstrates flexibility and a strong work ethic when adapting to unpredictable field conditions, shifting field schedules, and changes in regulatory requirements
· Must be able to conduct physical work in outdoor and remote environments.
· Must be proficient in Microsoft excel and word.
· Must possess a valid driver’s license.
· Ability to operate ATVs, snow machines, boats are an asset.
· Ability to manuver a truck and trailer safely is an asset.
