Skill Requirements:
- Industrial Mechanic Trade certification (interprovincial license or Red Seal as an Industrial mechanic)
- Five years’ experience in an industrial environment
- Knowledge of appropriate materials, methods, and tools required in various assembly processes
- Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labour
Summary of position:
The Industrial Mechanic under the direction of the Mechanical Supervisor will primarily be responsible to ensure high standards of workmanship and efficiency in a safe manner. The position will maintain a clean working area free from dirt and debris between tasks and at the end of the day. This role will also closely monitor machines for signs of problems while ensuring output is meeting set specifications. The Industrial Mechanic must have knowledge of appropriate materials, methods, and tools required in various assembly processes and ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner. Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensure work is planned and performed in a safe manner
- Ensure high standards of workmanship and efficiency
- Ensure outputs meet production schedules and quality standards, as well as customer needs
- Detect and trouble shoot equipment malfunctions or irregularities
- Perform required PMs and safety checks on all equipment and tools
- Mark, record, and report defective equipment
- Maintain a clean working area free from dirt and debris between tasks and at end of day
- Repair and replace defective machinery parts
- Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve safety, quality and productivity
- Lubricate, clean, install, maintain, adjust and repair machinery, equipment, and tools
- Closely monitor machines for signs of problems while ensuring output is meeting set specifications
- Communicate with supervisor, engineers, production control, quality, and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues
- Conduct start-up and testing, shutdown operations, trouble shooting and aligning
- Read and interpret drawings, specifications and vendor manuals
- Undertake any other relevant tasks as requested by the Supervisor
Work Conditions:
- Exposure to hazards associated with the industry/trade
- Use of required personal protective equipment
- Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods of time
- Operation and use of necessary tools, machinery, or equipment
- Extended periods of standing, and other physically demanding conditions
- Lifting, moving, or manipulating objects up to 40 lbs
- Climbing ladders, working at heights and in confined spaces
