NovelTea Bookstore Café is looking for dependable, personable people who want to settle into a steady role and become a long-term part of our team.
Experience is welcome, but it is not required. We can teach the technical side of coffee. What matters most is that you genuinely enjoy serving people, work well under pressure, and take pride in doing things properly.
This is a good fit for someone who is reliable, grounded, comfortable in a busy environment, and looking for more than a temporary job.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare espresso drinks, brewed coffee, tea, specialty beverages, and café items according to NovelTea recipes and standards
- Provide warm, attentive customer service and help create a welcoming atmosphere
- Manage several orders and responsibilities at once during busy periods
- Follow recipes and drink-building procedures accurately and consistently
- Operate the cash register and process customer orders
- Restock supplies, wash dishes, and keep work areas clean and organized
- Complete opening, closing, and routine cleaning responsibilities
- Work cooperatively with the team and step into other tasks when needed

- Are comfortable receiving feedback and continuing to improve
- Understand that café work includes cleaning, dishes, stocking and physical work—not only making drinks
- Can remain on your feet for most of a shift and occasionally lift boxes weighing up to 50 lb
Previous barista, café, restaurant or customer-service experience is an asset, but we will train the right person.
Availability
We are hiring for both:
Applicants must have some availability for weekends and holidays. Please include your complete availability when applying.
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly wage of $16.75–$17.50, depending on experience
- Tips averaging approximately $4–$7 per hour

Requirements
- Food Handler Certificate, or willingness to obtain one before beginning work
