Robotic Programmer:
Our never-before-seen welding robots require customization and R&D. We are looking for a Robotic Programmer to join our growing team and support the development and growth of our robots.
As a Robotic Programmer, reporting to the Controls and Automation Manager, you will be responsible for developing amazing new features (from classic motion control all the way to AI-driven features) and troubleshooting off-the-shelf robots integrated with our welding intelligence package (known as NovAI). You are a critical link in the team and your creativity and knowledge will enable the continued success of our robots!
Duties and Responsibilities:
Design and implement software for real-time control of robot controllers.
Develop robot programs using offline simulation tools and teach pendants.
Perform robotic cell design and reach analysis using robotic CAD software.
Select, test, and integrate hardware, sensors and safety interlocks for robotic cells.
Work with controls, electrical, mechanical engineers, and welders to commission and integrate robotic systems with sensors, vision systems, and other automation equipment.
Troubleshoot and debug robotic systems to resolve software or hardware issues both at our facility and at customer sites.
Perform root-cause analysis on recurring field issues and implement robust, long-term solutions.
Create and maintain software documentation, control narratives, and user manuals for robotic systems.
Travel occasionally (5–10%) to customer and supplier sites for installation and hands-on training.

Minimum Required Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
2+ years of hands-on industry experience developing software in C, C++, or similar languages.
Experience developing real-time software applications.
Experience programming 6-axis industrial robots such as Yaskawa, ABB, Fanuc, UR.
Experience with robotic SDKs such as MotoPlus or similar environments.
Proven ability to interface industrial robots with external PCs, PLCs, or sensor feedback systems.
Strategic, critical and algorithmic thinking, and analytical skills for structured problem-solving.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and experience working alongside cross-functional teams.
Preferred Additional Qualifications:
Familiarity with PLC programming.
Experience with 3D robotic simulation software such as MotoSim or RobotStudio.
Experience with industrial communication protocols such as EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, EtherCat, CAN.
Experience with commissioning, installing, and troubleshooting robotic systems.
Familiarity with ROS / ROS2 or other robotics middleware frameworks.
Experience with automated welding processes.
Schedule:
Core hours: Monday to Friday, 8am-5pm (PST)
Flexibility to work outside of 8-5 when needed to support remote installs in North America or outside North America in other time zones
