Our client, an established Vancouver organization, are looking for a Payroll Analyst to join their Finance team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with numbers, analyzing data, and solving problems. You'll spend most of your time supporting payroll accounting and conducting financial analysis, while also providing backup support for payroll processing when needed.

What You Will Do
Payroll Accounting:
Prepare and post payroll journal entries into the ERP system.
Complete payroll reconciliations, including balance sheet and expense accounts.
Analyze payroll data, deductions, taxable benefits, and remittances to ensure accuracy.
Review payroll transactions to ensure they comply with Canadian payroll legislation.
Work with large payroll data files from Dayforce to support accounting processes.
Finance & Business Support:
Answer payroll-related accounting questions from Finance and Operations teams.
Investigate and explain payroll cost variances against budgets and forecasts.
Partner with the Financial Planning & Analysis team on payroll budgeting.
Reporting & Process Improvement:
Help develop payroll reports, KPIs, and other financial reporting.
Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and system efficiencies.
Participate in payroll system testing, upgrades, and process improvement initiatives.
Maintain payroll documentation and support best practices for compliance and data accuracy.
Payroll Support:
Provide backup support for payroll processing when needed.
Assist with payroll for salaried, hourly, and multi-provincial employees.
Support employee benefits administration and statutory remittances (such as WCB and EHT).
Assist with year-end payroll activities, including T4s, T4As, RL-1s, and other government reporting.
Support internal and external payroll audits.
Requirements:
Diploma or degree in Payroll, Accounting, or Finance.
2-3 years of payroll processing experience.
2-3 years of accounting experience, including journal entries and general ledger reconciliations.
Knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, payroll taxes, remittances, and compliance.
Experience working with large datasets and strong Excel skills.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
Experience in a large, multi-entity or multi-location organization is an asset.
Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation is considered an asset.
