Join the Team at Unbound Coffee + Gelato

We’re an independent specialty coffee and gelato shop in Burlington. Since opening three months ago, we’ve been building a community around thoughtfully prepared drinks, warm service, and a space that feels good to spend time in.

We’re growing our team and looking for someone with specialty coffee or hospitality experience. We’re also open to someone who is genuinely interested in coffee, learns quickly, and is ready to develop strong barista skills while delivering a consistently great customer experience.

Just as importantly, we’re looking for someone who takes ownership of their work. That means noticing when something is off, stepping in where needed, and caring about the overall condition of the shop rather than focusing only on the task directly in front of them.

The Role

This is a hybrid Barista + Front-of-House position. You’ll rotate between the coffee bar and counter, support the flow of service, and help keep the shop clean, welcoming, and consistent.

You’ll take part in the full rhythm of the day, including opening, busy service periods, restocking, resetting the space, and closing. Everyone on the team is expected to pay attention to the bigger picture: the guest experience, the pace of service, and the condition of the shop.

What You’ll Do

Hospitality + Front of House

Welcome guests, help them navigate the menu, and keep service moving smoothly
Take orders accurately and process payments
Keep the shop guest-ready, including tables, floors, seating areas, and washroom checks
Notice when an area needs attention and address it without waiting to be assigned
Answer questions clearly about our coffee, milk options, drinks, gelato flavours, and pastries
Handle guest concerns with maturity, ownership, and a solutions-first mindset
Build genuine relationships with regulars while making first-time guests feel welcome

Coffee Bar

Prepare espresso-based drinks with consistency, speed, and care
Steam milk properly and adjust your technique for different drinks and milk options
Keep your station organized, stocked, and ready for busy periods
Follow recipes and shop standards so every drink is prepared consistently
Communicate clearly with the rest of the team to maintain an efficient service flow
Identify quality, equipment, stock, or workflow issues and raise them before they become larger problems

Gelato Bar

Scoop and serve gelato neatly and efficiently, particularly during peak periods
Keep the gelato area clean, presentable, and stocked with supplies
Learn our flavours and confidently answer common guest questions
Explain the difference between ice cream and gelato using the talking points provided during training
Notice presentation, cleanliness, or stock issues and take action to correct them

Operations + Cleanliness

Complete opening and closing duties, including thorough cleaning of equipment, tools, and surfaces
Support dishes and maintain the dish area throughout the shift
Restock supplies and flag low inventory before it affects service
Follow food-safety and health standards and report any concerns immediately
Pay attention to the overall condition of the shop and take initiative when something needs to be cleaned, restocked, reset, or reported
Follow through on tasks fully rather than assuming someone else will finish them
Help maintain the calm, organized environment that allows the whole team to work well

What We’re Looking For

Specialty coffee or hospitality experience is strongly preferred
A quick learner with a steady, coachable mindset
A strong sense of ownership and responsibility
Able to follow instructions accurately while also thinking beyond the immediate task
Willing to ask questions, communicate concerns, and follow through
Strong interpersonal skills and a warm, guest-first approach
Comfortable working efficiently during busy periods without sacrificing quality
A collaborative teammate who communicates clearly and pitches in where needed
Reliable, punctual, and consistent
