Position summary
Department / Research Program: CVIS/IDIGH (MLOps & AI Development)
Our team at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC), in partnership with Polytechnique Montréal, is seeking a Programmer to join our multidisciplinary team. Our digital health projects include conversational AI applications supporting pediatric health information, HIV self-management, and HIV prevention and access to care. The position will primarily focus on MLOps, including CI/CD and model deployment pipelines, cloud infrastructure, containerized environments, and system monitoring. The successful candidate will also contribute, when needed, to the development, integration, and evaluation of AI and machine-learning components.
General Duties
- Establish, maintain, and improve MLOps pipelines for conversational AI and related digital health projects.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support reliable development, testing, and deployment workflows.
- Manage cloud-based development and deployment environments and support application deployment across research and production environments.
- Develop and maintain containerized applications and services.
- Implement monitoring, logging, troubleshooting, and system maintenance processes to support application and AI/ML system reliability and performance.
- Support infrastructure configuration, version control, release management, and deployment automation.
- Work with project developers to standardize development, testing, and deployment practices across projects.
- Support secure and scalable deployment of AI-enabled digital health applications.
- Contribute to the integration, deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management of large language models and other AI/ML components.
- Contribute, when needed, to model development, evaluation, and optimization.
- Maintain technical documentation to support system sustainability, reproducibility, and knowledge transfer.
- Collaborate with researchers, clinicians, and engineers across multidisciplinary digital health projects.

Education / Experience
Education: Bachelor's Degree
Field of Study: Computer Science, Software Engineering, Health Informatics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
Work Experience: 2-5 years
Required Skills
- This position requires an advanced knowledge of oral and written French.
- An advanced knowledge of oral and written English is required, as the position requires regular and complex contact with patients, researchers or international students who are exclusively proficient in English. The position also requires complex writing or in-depth analysis of documents in English related to a research project.
- Experience with MLOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated application and/or model deployment workflows.
- Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and application deployment (Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Azure, etc.).
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker.
- Proficiency in Python and/or other relevant programming or scripting languages.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code, deployment automation, monitoring, and logging is an asset.
- Experience deploying, integrating, or maintaining AI/ML applications or large language models is an asset.
- Familiarity with machine learning and natural language processing frameworks, model serving, model versioning, experiment tracking, or inference optimization is an asset.
- Experience in digital health, health informatics, or clinical research environments is an asset.
- Familiarity with data privacy and security requirements in healthcare environments is an asset.
- Ability to work collaboratively with researchers, clinicians, engineers, and other members of multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong communication skills and ability to clearly document technical processes.
Additional information
Status: Temporary, full time (35-hour workweek)
Pay Scale: Commensurate with education and experience
Work Shift: Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm
Work Site: 5252 de Maisonneuve Blvd.
Additional specifications: This is an in-person position requiring on-site presence to support application deployment, testing, and collaboration with the lab team.
