Position Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced Excavator and Forklift Operator to join our team. This is a full-time position primarily based in Maple Ridge, BC. While Maple Ridge will be the employee’s primary work location, the successful candidate must be willing to provide operational support at our Richmond facility from time to time as business needs require.
Candidates must be willing to learn the classification and handling of both ferrous and non-ferrous materials as part of their ongoing training and development. Experience operating a forklift and/or skid steer is considered a strong asset.
The successful candidate will be responsible for operating the excavator and forklift, handling materials, loading and unloading trucks with forklift, and ensuring machinery is properly maintained and inspected. This is a hands-on role that requires attention to detail, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced yard environment.
Note. This is a hybrid and dynamic position that combines Excavator and Forklift operation. Since excavator work depends on material availability and may not be required throughout the entire shift, the employee is expected to support other yard operations as needed. This includes loading and unloading containers with the forklift and assisting with work in the Non-Ferrous Tent.
We are looking for a flexible, team-oriented individual who is comfortable performing different tasks throughout the day based on operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the excavator and Forklift safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload trucks using forklift with various metal materials.
- Handle and organize incoming and outgoing recyclable materials.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on equipment.
- Maintain accurate logs and daily records of machine operation and maintenance activities.
- Follow safety procedures and ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Support yard operations and assist other team members as required.
- Help in non-ferrous tent as needed (buying and classifying material)
Requirements
- Previous experience operating heavy machinery such as excavators in a recycling, construction, or industrial environment.
- Previous experience operating Excavator and Forklift.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of equipment maintenance.
- Ability to complete and maintain accurate operational records.
- Commitment to safe work practices and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in outdoor and physically demanding conditions.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Willingness to support different areas of the yard based on operational needs, including assisting in the Non-Ferrous Tent when required.
- Open to learning the identification, classification, and handling of both ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
- Willingness to operate other equipment, including a shear and skid steer, when required. Previous experience is considered an asset.
- Flexible and willing to provide operational support at our Richmond location when business needs require.
Position Details
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
