Transdev Canada is hiring a Signaling and Communication Supervisor for our Brampton, Ontario location
Transdev Canada is actively seeking a signaling and communication supervisor for our Hazel McCallion light rail transit project. This role will involve working closely with the maintenance team to ensure operations are safe and ready for daily service demands of this 24 hour per day, 7 day per week, 365 day per year operation.
Your role
- Overseeing a team of Signaling & Communication (S&C) technicians, assigning tasks, and ensuring work is completed efficiently and to a high standard.
- Developing maintenance schedules and plans to ensure proper upkeep of interlocking cabinets, wayside signals, CBTC equipment, fibre network, and all other train operation/supervision communication systems.
- Performing or coordinating repairs, respond to service disruptions, emergency situations and troubleshooting issues.
- Train and evaluate maintenance staff on best practices, safety procedures, and equipment operation to enhance skills and productivity.
- Coordinating with external vendors, sub-contractors, and service providers for maintenance, specialised repairs, warranty support and other signaling-related services as needed.
- Reviewing records of maintenance, work orders, equipment manuals, and inventory to track maintenance history and facilitate future planning.
- Provide technical input for procurement of tools, instrumentation, spare parts, and consumable materials.
- Participate and support in testing and commissioning activities of central and field signaling equipment and systems.
- Development and implement standard operating procedures, work instructions, risk assessments and inspect on forms/checklists.
- Liaise with Operation Control Centre, Rolling Stock Maintenance, and in other Fixed Assets maintenance teams to ensure integrated maintenance and efficient system recovery.
- Validate test results, recommend process improvements, implement changes, and system adjustments.
- Participate in safety audits, inspections and incident investigations.
- May be required to be a certified member of the JHSC.
- Participate in professional development as required.
- Comply with current company policies, provincial/federal regulations, procedures and operational instructions.
- Conduct other duties as reasonably requested by management.

Your profile
- You have a degree or diploma in electrical, electronics, communications or related discipline
- You have 5 to 8 years of experience working with rail or transit wayside signalling/communication systems; supervisory experience preferred.
- You have a trade license 289F Electrician (Signal Maintenance) (preferred).
- You have a strong understanding of wayside signalling architecture and fixed communication infrastructure.
- You have proven leadership skills with the ability to direct field teams and manage work in a live transit environment.
- You have knowledge of applicable signalling and communication standards such as EN 50126/50128/50129 (CENELEC), NFPA 130, and relevant Canadian electrical and safety codes.
Work Experience Qualifications
- Must be legally entitled to live and work in Canada.
- Work experience in maintenance in the rail industry including knowledge on electrical or communication concepts.
- Experience with work order system (Maximo) is an asset.
- Relevant trade license an asset.
