The Junior BAS Technician is responsible for the design, programming, graphics, commissioning, client training, warranties, preventative maintenance, energy management and operating cost reduction along with service calls and repairs to support a wide array of clients. Client building portfolios are typically facilities including commercial, condominiums, multi-use residential, industrial, K-12 and higher education, retail, long term care/retirement facilities, and municipalities Building Automation Systems (BAS). The Junior BAS Technician will be a key team member who works on a wide variety of assigned tasks to meet the needs of our clients.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Relationship Management
Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with clients and team members and ensure effective communication.
Building Automation Systems and Software
- Programming and graphics of HVAC equipment via software and verify system performance with minimal supervision.
- Integrate building automation software with third-party systems via network connections and integration based on experience and expertise.
- Simulate sequences of operations to verify proper operating parameters of systems and their performance by using the necessary software based on experience and expertise.
- Download software to controllers and completion of on-site adjustments where necessary.
- Test, inspect, and troubleshoot low-voltage power equipment and systems, network communications, peripherals, valves, actuators, relays, and sensors during commissioning with minimal supervision.
- Verify the installation, commissioning, and operation of electrical and electronic equipment and systems related to the BAS.
- Perform inspections, tests, adjustments, and evaluations of low voltage electronic components and assemblies in accordance with manufacturer specifications and tolerances.
Utilize technical manuals and written instructions when deemed necessary to calibrate electrical and electronic equipment and instruments.

Commissioning BAS systems
- Commission BAS systems verify end-to-end and report/resolve anomalies based on experience and expertise.
Provide commissioning verification checklists to the appropriate Project Manager and BAS Manager throughout the commissioning process of projects.

Best Practice and Knowledge Maintenance
Understand HVAC equipment & mechanical components and how it is related to control strategies and theories.
Documentation and Reporting
- Provide assistance in preparing specifications and reports for related projects of responsibility by collecting and compiling operational data based on experience and expertise.
Completes service reports and PM checklists on service call and preventative maintenance site visits.

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation
- Technician, diploma Technologist diploma or Engineering degree in a related technological field to BAS.
Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation.

This is a regular, full-time position with a hourly range of $27.79 - $34.73. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate’s competencies, including but not limited to experience, education, professional designations and performance related to this role.
