We self-perform framing (wood and steel stud), forming, demolition and other renovation tasks. The Job
We are seeking an experienced Carpenter / Handyman to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with a broad range of residential construction skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and the confidence to work independently while consistently delivering high-quality results for clients.
You will be responsible for completing a variety of renovation, repair, and maintenance projects, ranging from small service calls to larger residential renovations. Depending on the scope of work, you may work independently or alongside other members of our team. In addition to residential projects, you will also support our core construction team on commercial tenant improvement projects as required.
Responsibilities
Renovation & Construction Work
- Perform a wide range of residential renovation, handyman, and service tasks
- Complete carpentry work including framing, blocking, trim installation, and finishing carpentry
- Complete finishing work including installation of doors, windows, hardware, cabinetry, millwork, and fixtures.
- Complete drywall repairs, patching, painting, and touch-up work
- Complete minor demolition and site preparation work
- Coordinate with subcontractors when required
- Identify deficiencies and complete repairs efficiently and professionally
- Maintain a high standard of workmanship on all projects
- Keep the site safe, clean, and organized at all times
Communication and Coordination
- Work closely with the Project Manager to coordinate project requirements
- Provide regular updates on project progress and site conditions
- Document completed work with photos and daily reports when required
- Communicate material needs and potential issues before they impact schedules
- Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to client expectations
Customer Service
- Interact professionally with homeowners and clients
- Represent the company positively on-site
- Address client questions and concerns appropriately
- Maintain clean, organized, and respectful work environments in occupied homes
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of residential renovation and handyman experience
- Strong general carpentry skills
- Experience with framing, drywall repairs, trim work, door and window installation, and basic finishing work
- Experience with bathroom and kitchen renovations is an asset
- Ability to complete projects independently with minimal supervision
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of residential construction practices and BC Building Code requirements
- Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented
- Comfortable using smartphones and basic project management software for communication and documentation
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Requirements
- Must reside in the Lower Mainland
- Must have own tools and safety equipment
- Occupational First Aid ticket (Level 1 or higher) is an asset
- Physically able to lift 50+ lbs and work in both indoor and outdoor conditions
- Able to travel to various job sites as needed
