Job Description
The Web Designer is responsible for planning, designing, and maintaining the CFOC website and related digital properties. This creative and technically skilled role will enhance user experience and visual engagement for church members, guests, and the broader community by delivering responsive, modern, and impactful web design. Applicants must be between the ages of 15 and 30, as per the requirements of Canada Summer Jobs.
Key Responsibilities
Web Design & Maintenance
- Design, update, and optimize the CFOC website for usability, accessibility (WCAG), and brand consistency.
- Create visually compelling graphics, layouts, and interfaces for web and mobile platforms.
- Develop landing pages and microsites for events, outreach programs, and multimedia campaigns.
- Manage website content, ensuring timely updates and relevant information.
Project Management
- Plan and execute web design project timelines; meet deadlines for launches and updates.
- Collaborate with ministry teams, graphic/content creator staff, and leadership to gather requirements and feedback.
- Manage digital asset libraries, including graphics, documents, and web files.
Technical Skills & Collaboration
- Use Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Canva, or equivalent web design/graphics software.
- Apply basic HTML/CSS techniques to support web development efforts.
- Ensure web properties meet performance, accessibility, and navigation standards.
- Collaborate to integrate video, photography, and social media assets into site pages.
- Troubleshoot responsive design and layout issues on desktops and mobile devices.
Content Creation & Digital Presence
- Create banners, graphics, and promotional materials for campaigns and programs.
- Assist with rewriting or formatting copy for clarity, SEO, and engagement.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in web design, nonprofit communications, and digital outreach.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proficiency with web and graphic design software (Figma, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.).
- Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS and responsive design principles.
- Experience managing or creating content for websites (1 year preferred).
- Familiarity with accessibility, user experience, and SEO best practices.
- Strong visual design, communication, and organizational skills.
