RESPONSIBILITIES
The Production Kitchen auxiliary with a cooking and meal preparation focused role. The successful candidate is responsible for preparing, cooking, and portioning food products according to standardized recipes and production schedules in a high-volume commercial kitchen environment. This role ensures food quality, consistency, food safety compliance, and efficient production to support retail, catering, meal delivery, or food service operations.
- Measure, mix, and portion ingredients accurately to ensure product consistency.
- Operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, mixers, slicers, kettles, and food processors.
- Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and taste.
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and HACCP procedures
- Monitor product temperatures and maintain proper storage practices.
- Assist with receiving, rotating, and storing inventory using FIFO methods.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout the shift.
- Complete production records, temperature logs, and other required documentation.
- Support packaging, labeling, and order fulfillment activities as required.
- Identify and report equipment issues, product shortages, or quality concerns.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to meet daily production goals.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
- Comfortable working in hot, cold, and fast-paced kitchen environments.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining quality standards.
Schedule
- Flexible availability, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Additional duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience in a commercial, commissary, production, or high-volume kitchen preferred.
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen safety standards.
- Ability to read and follow recipes, production sheets, and instructions.
- Food Handler Certification or willingness to obtain certification.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams is considered an asset
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Able to read text and communicate orally in English. Ability to communicate in other languages is considered an asset.
- For successful candidates: A recent vulnerable sector check completed at maximum 3 months prior to employment offer.
- Health and Safety Training completed during onboarding and updated annually.
Please note that you do not need to be trained in the specific program being posted to be a successful candidate. SGH will provide training to candidates when awarded a new position.
