Head Cafeteria Worker

Horton High School

Vacant Position: 7 hours per day

Effective September 1, 2026

Rate of Pay: As per Collective Agreement ($22.66)

Closing date for applications: Midnight, June 25, 2026

Terms and conditions of employment, including wages, are in accordance with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Collective Agreement Local 3876.

Qualifications and Abilities:
Knowledge of and a willingness to build healthy menus and snacks on sound nutritional principles.
Experience working in a school at the p to 8 level is preferable.
Previous experience in a school cafeteria will be an asset.
An educational background in the nutritional studies would be and asset

Responsibilities:
Responsible for managing the cafeteria under the supervision of the school principal.
Current Food Handlers certificate.
Experience in the area of food preparation, presentation, and service to students and staff.
A willingness to consult and collaborate regarding cafeteria business plan, weekly menu and pricing.
Ordering food items and relevant supplies.
Keeping an inventory on a frequent basis, of all foods and supplies.
Daily deposits.
Cash reconciliation and sales reports.
Preparation and serving of food, kitchen duties as required in co-ordination with the cafeteria team (stocking, cleaning, dishes, etc.)
A willingness to be engaged in the school recycling program.
An interest in working in a school environment.
