Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Water and Circular Economy, the Executive Director, Water and Waste Sustainability provides leadership for water quality protection, waste management and the circular economy.
This role will ensure that policies and programs related to water quality, industrial wastewater effluent, drinking water and municipal wastewater, waste management, and recycling are maintained and developed through legislative processes. As Executive Director you will provide leadership for technical specialist support to drinking water systems, including overseeing operator certification for drinking water and municipal wastewater systems. You will also advance waste management and circular economy, including policies and programs regarding landfills, hazardous waste and naturally occurring radioactive materials (NORMs) as well as composting, recycling and extended producer responsibility systems.
Integral to this work is your strong relationship and collaboration skills as you will be working with a variety of internal teams, cross-governmental partners, other governments, ministries, and key industry stakeholders and associations to ensure policies and programs to support water and waste sustainability.
As the successful candidate your background includes extensive related senior management experience in a large organization with a depth of experience in natural resource management. You possess demonstrated success in formulating new policies, regulations and programs, legislative review, and managing complex issues. You are known for your critical thinking skills, ability to influence, negotiate, and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups to achieve innovative outcomes. Key strengths include the ability to articulate a strong vision and build an organizational culture embracing strong relationships with stakeholders, business acumen and solution focused. A bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
$5,896.65 - $7,749.28 bi-weekly ($153,902.57 - $202,256.21 annually)
