JOB TITLE: PSP 4-26-27 Social Worker - 3 Positions

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidates will provide direct services and/or consultation in mental health promotion, prevention and intervention to students, staff, and families. The candidate will conduct risk assessments and respond to, and support crises and traumatic situations as well as liaise with community agencies and support pathways to care within the Grand Erie District School Board and the community. Additionally, social workers will provide attendance counselling and intervention in accordance with the Education Act. Social Workers will follow procedures and practices related to, but not limited to, case management, informed consent, confidentiality, and record keeping as well as perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Social Work or Master of Social Work degree is required; verification of post-secondary education (degree or original transcript) will be required
- Registered member of Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers in good standing is required
- An understanding of evidence based on mental health promotion, prevention, interventions for children and youth is preferred
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices and assessments to support crises, traumatic events, risk and postvention for students, staff and families is preferred
- Knowledge of counselling modalities effective with children and youth is preferred
- Understanding of trauma informed practices is preferred
- Experience with in-person and virtual support for children and youth
- Experience working in schools is preferred
- Knowledge of local community resources and system navigation is preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively is required
- Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team is required
- Reliable means of transportation is required for travel to schools
- Must be proficient in the use of computers
Hours of Work
7 hours per day/35 hours per week
Rate of Pay
$58,559 to $64,936 hiring range BSW
$58,559 to $68,120 salary range BSW
$83,813 to $93,216 hiring range MSW
$83,813 to $97,920 salary range MSW
