Responsibilities:
- Selection of stock and delivery of supplies and equipment throughout the hospital.
- Transfer and placing orders for a variety of Medical/Surgical supplies with the use of ‘hand held’ terminals.
- Assist with inventory counts, quarterly audits, and checks.
- Reconciling and documenting inventory discrepancies as requested by management.
- Use of computer system to locate items, inventory, data entry, etc.
- Specific duties will be based on assignment.
- Treating all staff, patients and visitors with courtesy, dignity and respect.
- Demonstrated reliable attendance, punctuality, availability, and performance required.
Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of experience working in a similar environment.
- Minimum of grade 12 or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a computerized purchasing/shipping/receiving department.
- Basic Meditech and Microsoft Office Suite skills and knowledge required.
- Experience with Supply Chain and Logistic principles.
- Good understanding of workplace safety rules and regulations.
- An understanding of clinical practices and the role consumable supplies play in these practices.
- Ability to manage some heavy lifting of boxed product on a daily basis.
- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal required.
- Strong organizational skills, with demonstrated ability to prioritize in a fast paced environment with competing priorities.
- Demonstrated strong time management skills including adherence to tight deadlines.
PLEASE NOTE: Assignment subject to change based on the needs of the department. In order to be able to fulfill the duties of the role, there is an initial orientation requirement of five (5) consecutive weekdays of cross training with an experienced Material Handler. Training is to be completed upon acceptance and prior to filling a shift.
