Full job description

We are looking for a motivated individual to join our team as a HIAB / Crane Truck Driver. Wage based on experience. If you believe that your skills and experiences align with who we are looking for, we encourage you to apply today!

Position Overview:

A Hiab / Crane Truck Driver’s main responsibility is to operate our Country Lumber crane truck in a safe, efficient, and professional manner while delivering construction related materials to residential, commercial and/or industrial customers’ sites while providing a positive customer experience.

Principal Responsibilities:

Operating HIAB cranes within BC Association for Crane Safety operational standards.
Operating trucks and their equipment with capacities of more than 3-tons to transport, deliver supplies and materials, while securing cargo and trucks during transport, and at worksites.
Maintains cell and/or radio contact with Shipping Manager throughout the day regarding alternative locations and instructions.
Process truck logs and record of materials/ supplies transported, along with other required paperwork.
Conduct pre-trip truck inspections to maintain truck and crane is operating properly and notifying management for any required repairs or maintenance.
Other duties and tasks as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required:

Hiab Certified with Class 1 or 3 license
Knowledge of principles and practices of highway safety, risk management, and HIAB operation. - Required.
Able to access the area/situation visually and mentally process what crane operations need to be done or avoided due to safety concerns or restrictions, i.e. powerlines, job site conditions, crane extensions limitations, soil. conditions, embankments, underground utilities, etc.
Strong hand-eye coordination, depth perceptions and finger dexterity required for precise operation with crane remote control, similar to video game controls.
Ability to recognize different handling techniques required for various products, i.e. cement siding versus plywood or dimensional lumber, where chains may be used as opposed to slings.
Enter, transcribe, record and maintain information in written form.
Ability to lift over 50 pounds from floor or shelf and carry up to 150 feet.
Ability to pull up to 20 pounds of force when tightening straps with ratchet lever, with full range of shoulder motion and extension.
Must be able to work up to 8 hours a day, 5 days / week including overtime and Saturdays as required. (No Sundays).

Working Conditions:

Subject to weather extremes, hot, cold, snow, rain, wind.
Flexibility of time required to accommodate operational demands.
Due to the nature of this role, this can be a physically demanding position.

Commercial driving: 2 years (preferred)
HIAB/Crane (22 Tonne & Under or Unlimited Tonnage): 2 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

Fulford Level A HIAB/Crane Folding Boom Certification (required)
