Preference will be given to Calgary and area Candidates. All applicants MUST live in Canada and MUST possess a valid Canadian Drivers License.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Work in remote locations a MUST. Willingness to travel and work away from home
- Use hand and power tools to cut, shape, and fit metal components.
- Operate and work from mobile, elevated platforms.
- Erect and install structural steel components according to project plans and specifications. Bolting. torquing etc.
- Experience in cladding: Apply materials such as steel, aluminum, and other materials to buildings and structures.
- Install insulation, cladding, metal decking, and standing seam roofing
- Measure, cut, and prepare materials for assembly. Fit and join cladding materials with riveting, welding, soldering, mechanical fastening, and other methods.
- Cut, drill, punch, and shape metal and other materials using tolls such as hand and power tools such as hand and power shears, breaks, snips, laser cutters, and light metal working equipment as examples.
- Inspect and ensure the quality of completed work to meet safety standards.
- Keep a clean and orderly work area.
- Collaborate with other team members to complete projects efficiently and safely.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- 10-12 hour days (OT after 44 hours)
Qualifications:
- Assemble structural metal products, such as steel frameworks or beams, (2nd / 3rd year ironworker apprentice an asset)
- Connecting experience a HUGE asset
- Read and interpret blueprints to determine the specifications and requirements of the project an asset
- Mechanical knowledge and understanding of construction principles
- Experience in welding and fabrication techniques an asset
- Ability to operate a forklift, Telehandler or other heavy machinery safely an asset.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform tasks requiring heavy lifting, climbing, and working at heights
- Majority of ironworking and industry specific tickets (CSO, H2S, Fall Pro, MEWP, First Aid, etc)
