Job Summary

The Assistant Controller provides assistance to the controller is responsible for leading the finance team to deliver accurate and timely financial reporting, forecasting, analysis, budgetary controls, and yearend reporting following Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP).

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated ability to successfully manage a team, be able to work under tight deadlines. The Controller will support RCVLP in its long-range financial strategy and its strategic plans

River Cree Ventures Limited Partnership provides business development services to the Enoch Cree Nation. The company currently operates a mix of retail, real estate, engineering and construction businesses. It is a growing organization moving into the medical sectors and has aggressive future growth plans. To assist this growth, the Assistant Controller will be a key member of the management team.

Responsibilities

· Prepare monthly and quarterly consolidated financial statements for RCVLP and all subsidiaries.

· Supervise finance staff to ensure all transactions are correctly recorded, including posting of batches.

· Review job costing and projects for completeness and accuracy.

· Review remittances, accounts receivable and payable listings, and payroll reports.

· Prepare cash flow statements as required.

· Reconcile all intercompany accounts.

· Assist with all data and information required for bonding for the construction company.

· Update and maintain continuity schedules, including prepaids, deposits, capital assets, and related items.

· Review and approve all payroll transactions and assist with year-end T4 reporting.

· Establish, monitor, and maintain internal controls.

· Assist the Controller with preparation of annual budgets, working with all managers.

· Assist the Controller with annual audit preparation and procedures, working with the Finance team.

· Assist the CFO and Controller with other duties as assigned.

Skills

· Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation, currently enrolled in the CPA designation, or a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

· A minimum of 3+ years of experience in finance, accounting, and auditing, including a minimum of 3 years in a senior role overseeing finance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.

· Experience with Sage 300 is considered an asset.

· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Valid Driver’s License.

· Must be bondable.
