Purpose of Position
Reporting to the Manager, Community Engagement, the Coordinator, Thrive Program supports the coordination and delivery of arts-based programming for older adults (55+), with a focus on fostering creativity, social connection, and wellbeing.
Building on the success of the Museum’s previous senior program initiatives, which integrated transportation, guided tours, hands-on workshops, and social engagement opportunities for seniors. The Thrive program expands this model to deepen impact and reach diverse communities.
The Coordinator, Thrive program supports the smooth logistical execution and high-quality delivery of programs. This is a coordination, logistics and delivery-focused role and does not include budget or staff management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate program logistics for Thrive sessions, including scheduling, purchases of supplies, space bookings, refreshments, collection of bus waiver forms and media release forms and day-of execution.
- Act as the primary on-site coordinator for Thrive sessions, ensuring smooth program delivery by addressing logistical issues, welcoming participants, coordinating participant flow, and providing support to educators, facilitators, volunteers and internal teams.
- Support the delivery of arts-based, hands-on workshops and museum experiences for seniors, including tours and social activities, by assisting Museum Educators with facilitation, participant engagement and activity implementation.
- Liaise with community partners to support participant coordination, communication, and program readiness.
- Prepare and organize program materials and supplies in advance of each session.
- Assist in the implementation of evaluation tools and processes, including participant surveys, feedback collection and data collation.
- Maintain accurate program documentation, attendance records, and reporting materials.
- Support the development, design, and promotion of programs in collaboration with the team.
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and accessible environment that encourages participation, creativity and social connection, and responsiveness to the needs of diverse senior communities.
- Support community related programs both onsite and offsite, such as festivals.
- Any other tasks assigned by the line manager.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of a university degree, preferably in Museum Studies, Recreation Studies, or a related field.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in program coordination, project coordination, or community-based program delivery.
- Experience planning and managing end-to-end program logistics, including scheduling, supplies preparation, space booking, transportation coordination, and day-of execution.
- Experience working with seniors, community groups, and/or newcomer or diverse participant populations.
- Experience supporting or delivering arts-based, cultural, or hands-on programming.
- Strong organizational and coordination skills, with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Familiarity with inclusive and accessible programming practices.
- Graphic design skills (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Canva) are considered an asset.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate effectively with diverse communities.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and follow direction from multiple stakeholders.
- Expressed interest in the mandate of the Museum.
The salary range for this position is $55,000–$60,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
This is a one-year full-time fixed term contract, with the possibility of extension.
