Part-Time Coding & Robotics Instructor
Job Summary
Blake Christian Academy is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Coding & Robotics Instructor to lead students in hands-on technology learning experiences. The successful candidate will teach coding, robotics, problem-solving, and digital literacy skills to elementary and middle-school students while fostering creativity, innovation, and critical thinking.
This role is ideal for a university student, recent graduate, technology enthusiast, or experienced instructor who enjoys working with children and is passionate about STEM education. The instructor will have the opportunity to help develop and shape the school’s coding and robotics program while creating engaging learning experiences for students.
Hours: 4-8 hours per week
Compensation: $20–$25 per hour, based on qualifications and experience
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging coding and robotics lessons for students in Grades 1–8.
- Develop age-appropriate learning activities, projects, and challenges that promote problem-solving and computational thinking.
- Create lesson plans, instructional materials, and classroom resources to support student learning.
- Teach foundational coding concepts using suitable programming platforms and technologies.
- Facilitate hands-on robotics activities using school-provided robotics equipment and resources.
- Adapt lessons to meet the needs and skill levels of diverse learners.
- Monitor student progress and provide ongoing feedback and support.
- Assess student performance and maintain records required for report cards and progress reporting.
- Track attendance and maintain accurate student documentation.
- Maintain a positive, respectful, and well-managed classroom environment.
- Supervise students during instructional activities and related school programs.
- Ensure robotics equipment, technology resources, and classroom materials are organized and properly maintained.
- Collaborate with school administration and staff to support STEM-related initiatives and special events.
- Stay informed about current trends and best practices in coding, robotics, and educational technology.
Qualifications
- Experience with coding, computer programming, robotics, engineering, technology, or a related field.
- Experience teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or working with children is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to explain technical concepts in a clear and engaging manner.
- Strong organizational and classroom management skills.
- Ability to work independently and develop instructional materials.
- Comfortable using computers, educational technology, and digital learning tools.
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain one).
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary studies in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Robotics, Education, or a related field.
- Experience with educational robotics platforms such as LEGO Robotics, VEX Robotics, Arduino, micro:bit, or similar technologies.
- Experience teaching coding platforms such as Scratch, Python, JavaScript, or other age-appropriate programming languages.
- Experience developing STEM programs or extracurricular technology activities.
- Passion for Christian education and willingness to support the mission and values of Blake Academy.
