Your Opportunity: Senior P&C Engineer
Our Edmonton office is hiring a Senior Protection & Control (P&C) Engineer to lead substation automation, relay settings, and electrical schematic design. Reporting to the Senior P&C Lead, this role involves working on substations (5kV to 500kV), power system protection schemes, and grid automation projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of protection & control systems for substations and power networks.
- Perform relay setting calculations, protection coordination studies, and fault analysis.
- Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, protection logic, and control schemes.
- Prepare engineering design packages, ensuring compliance with utility and industry standards.
- Conduct QA/QC reviews of protection system designs and technical documentation.
- Work with SCADA, RTUs, IEC 61850, and communication protocols for substation automation.
- Support commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of protection systems.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and mentor junior engineers.
- Interface directly with clients, utilities, and project stakeholders.
Qualifications & Skills
✅ Must-Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in Protection & Control (P&C) engineering.
- Extensive experience with relay protection, settings, and coordination.
- Expertise in electrical schematics, control diagrams, and automation systems.
- Proficiency with SEL AcSELerator, GE Enervista, ABB PCM, ASPEN, ETAP, or similar tools.
- Strong knowledge of substation protection, automation, and grid integration.
✅ Preferred Experience:
- Familiarity with IEC 61850, SCADA, DNP3, MODBUS, and RTU protocols.
- Experience with substation expansions, upgrades, and commissioning.
- Understanding of Canadian Electrical Code, IEEE, CSA, and NERC standards.
- Leadership skills with the ability to mentor junior engineers.

- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Effective communicator with both technical teams and clients.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on quality assurance.
Additional Details:
- Open to candidates regardless of permanent residency status—priority is technical expertise.
- Travel may be required (up to 8 days per month).
