Wholesale Procurement Specialist

We are seeking a market-savvy Wholesale Procurement Specialist to manage our core commercial interior and structural product lines. In this role, you will oversee domestic sourcing, inventory management, and manufacturer relations for our high-volume structural steel framing, drywall, ceiling systems, and insulation categories. Your goal is to secure competitive domestic volume discounts, optimize inventory turnover across our distribution network, and maintain strong supply lines to serve our commercial development clients located in our Dieppe, N.B. location.
Successful candidates will have position requirements that include (but are not limited to)
Domestic Category Management: Oversee purchasing strategies for structural steel, drywall, ceiling tiles, grids, and insulation products, maximizing category profitability.
· Manufacturer Negotiations: Negotiate tiered volume discounts, annual rebates, and favorable freight terms directly with major North American building material manufacturers.
· Inventory Optimization: Monitor regional demand patterns to maintain optimal stock levels across our distribution centers, eliminating stockouts on high-velocity items.
· Commodity & Freight Tracking: Track domestic steel and paper indexes alongside flatbed trucking rates to anticipate price fluctuations and time bulk buys strategically.
· Lead-Time Management: Coordinate with domestic carriers and manufacturing plants to ensure predictable delivery schedules, preventing order bottlenecks.
· Dispute Resolution: Manage vendor quality issues, material damage claims, and billing discrepancies, securing quick resolution or credit terms.
As a Wholesale Procurement Specialist you will need specific Skills
· Experience: 3 to 5 years of wholesale buying or procurement experience specifically focused on commercial building materials (steel, gypsum, or insulation lines preferred).
· Technical Skills: Mastery of our ERP systems for stock forecasting and purchase orders, alongside advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (specifically some advanced Excel functions)
· Market Knowledge: Strong understanding of North American steel mills, insulation manufacturers, and commercial interior supply networks.
· Logistics Acumen: Familiarity with domestic over-the-road (OTR) freight, flatbed logistics, and regional distribution models.
· Core Competencies: Excellent negotiation skills, sharp financial acumen, and the ability to maintain strong relationships with domestic suppliers.
