Job Title: Design & Construction Coordinator
The Design and Construction Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinate, executing new store construction and renovations according to Brand standards, operations standards, Lease and landlord criteria, and various legislation and codes. Responsible for ensuring projects are completed on time and on or under budget. They are also responsible for effectively communicating, managing, and resolving deficiencies acting as the primary liaison between Franchising, The Operations team, Contractor, Landlord, and the Franchisee. This requires coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan and budget. The Design and Construction Coordinator will also define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.

Responsibilities (but not limited to)
- Plan, direct and coordinate new build and renovation projects from beginning to end.
- Coordinating with Project Coordinator on complex and New Store Builds
- Managing small or minor cosmetic renovation
- Defines project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business goals in terms of Brand Standards, Operations Standards, lease terms, landlord requirements, and legislative and code requirements.
- Gathering of information specific to the project; base building drawings, Design Criteria, special conditions and/or conducting an onsite survey/verification
- Establishes competitive budgets, manages tenders from answering/directing RFI’s to review and negotiating bids, manages the completion of blacklines, full sets of drawings, tendering, permit applications and approvals, ordering of equipment, small wares, signage, etc. and ensures delivery at appropriate times to the various projects.
- Continuous monitoring of projects, complete site visits as required to ensure a quality build, to spec, within the construction timeline and provides a quality handover with no significant and limited deficiencies, ensuring occupancy is granted at the time of turnover to operations.
- Ensures funding is received via accounting at various checkpoints before spending funds unless otherwise approved by the Brand VP.
- Establishes and maintains a stable of qualified third-party partners (designers, contractors, etc.).
- Track projects by assigning project numbers, printing and distributing status reports, tracking and forwarding invoices.
- Completes a Construction Reconciliation and forwards to Brand VP’s and accounting for each project complete with matching invoices and PO’s.
Requirements
- Experience in retail and/or restaurant construction on a construction level. Dealing with full builds and renovations;
- Some experience in Project coordination, budgeting, tendering, permitting, coordination of logistics and project management.
- Very strong administration skillset;
- Driver's License and access to a car (required).

- Project management: 2 years (preferred).
Working conditions
The candidate must:
- Be able to travel up to <20% of the time within 2.5 hours from the office and 5% nationally.
- Have use of a vehicle and a valid driver’s license.
- Able to work on construction sites.
- Be able to work long hours at times to meet business requirements.

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
