E-commerce Associate
Indigo Bay, Canmore
Full-time | $23/hour, plus wardrobe credit that grows as you gain experience
Job Description
Some days you'll answer an email from a customer across the country wondering how a dress fits through the shoulders. Other days you'll photograph a new arrival for our website, film a quick video for Instagram, pack online orders, or update products in Shopify.
It's a chance to learn how an independent boutique runs from the inside out — the systems, the workflows, and the details that keep everything moving behind the scenes.
We're looking for someone who's organized, comfortable with technology, and genuinely cares about getting the details right. You'll spend your time supporting the systems that keep Indigo Bay running — from Shopify and Heartland to shipping online orders, answering customer emails, and helping us present our products beautifully online and on social media. It's also a physically active role: you'll spend time in our warehouse receiving and organizing stock, and you'll need to be comfortable climbing ladders and lifting boxes, on your feet for extended periods, and moving quickly during busy stretches.
No two days are quite the same.
About us
Indigo Bay has been helping women find clothes they love in downtown Canmore since 2000. We're an independent boutique carrying more than 200 carefully chosen brands, from everyday favourites to special occasion pieces.
We believe the online experience should feel just as personal and thoughtful as visiting us in store, and you'll play an important role in making that happen. As you build product knowledge and confidence, you'll also have opportunities to contribute to our website, email marketing and social media content, and for the right person, this role can grow into more responsibility across e-commerce, marketing or operations over time.
You'll fit in here if you:
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and can strike the right tone whether you're writing a sizing email or captioning an Instagram Reel
- Love learning about products and remember the little details that help customers make decisions
- Enjoy organizing information and appreciate accuracy and attention to detail
- Have at least 1 year of hands-on Shopify experience
- Are comfortable with, or excited to learn, the other tools we use daily, including Heartland/Global Retail, Mac OS, Meta, Later and Canva
- Have an eye for what makes a good photo or short video, or are excited to learn
- Are comfortable climbing ladders, lifting boxes and being on your feet in a busy warehouse and stockroom
- Notice what needs doing and jump in without waiting to be asked
- Live within a 25-minute commute of Canmore and are legally entitled to work in Canada
- Can commit to full-time hours, including weekends and some evenings
What You'll Do
- Answer customer questions by phone, email and social media, including providing sizing advice and product information, with clear and friendly communication
- Receive, organize and process incoming stock in our warehouse
- Prepare and ship online orders with care and attention to detail
- Assist with Shopify product setup, merchandising and inventory updates
- Help maintain accurate inventory between Shopify and Heartland Retail
- Photograph products and assist with digital merchandising and content creation
- Support our social media manager by creating engaging short-form videos and stories showcasing new arrivals for Instagram and Facebook
- Work closely with the Retail Operations team and to keep everything running smoothly
What We Offer
- $23/hour
- Wardrobe credit that accrues with hours worked, and grows as your product knowledge and productivity grow — the more you bring to the role, the more it pays back
- Store discount and on-site parking
- Hands-on training in retail operations, inventory management and e-commerce
- Opportunities to develop skills in product photography, digital merchandising, email marketing and social media
- A small, collaborative team where your ideas are welcomed and your work has a real impact
- A chance to learn the back-office side of an independent retail business in one of Canada's most beautiful mountain towns
If you're someone who enjoys variety, loves organizing and problem-solving, and wants to build skills that go well beyond traditional retail, we'd love to hear from you. Please send your cover letter and résumé through Indeed.
