Job Summary (Applicants need to be prepared to work a rotation of daytime , rest & awake overnights, and weekends)

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Disability Support Worker to assist individuals with disabilities in their daily activities and promote their independence. The ideal candidate will provide personalized support, foster a safe environment, and encourage participation in community and recreational activities. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those you support by offering respectful, empathetic, and professional care.

Responsibilities

Assist clients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, dressing, meal preparation, and mobility.
Support clients in participating in community outings, recreational activities, and social engagements.
Monitor clients’ health and well-being, reporting any concerns to appropriate healthcare professionals.
Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client’s needs and preferences.
Maintain accurate documentation of services provided, progress notes, and incident reports.
Promote independence by encouraging clients to perform tasks within their capabilities.
Ensure a safe environment by adhering to health and safety standards and protocols.
Collaborate with families, healthcare providers, and support teams to deliver consistent care.

Skills

Compassionate nature with excellent interpersonal skills.
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members.
Ability to remain patient, empathetic, and respectful in challenging situations.
Basic knowledge of disability support practices and relevant health and safety regulations.
Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and schedules.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Prior experience in disability support or caregiving is preferred but not required; training will be provided for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

a. Education

High School Diploma
Foundations or Basic Skills Training

Relevant Certificate or Diploma in Human Services

b. Experience

Six month’s experience in the Human Services field preferred.

c. Other

Criminal Record Check
Vulnerable Sector Check
Valid Alberta driver’s license and access to a safe vehicle.
Valid AB First Aid Certificate

Pay: $17.88-$29.98 per hour
