Lab Sampling Technician to support oil & gas operations through field sampling, environmental monitoring, and laboratory analysis support.
In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for collecting water, gas, hydrocarbon, and soil samples while ensuring compliance with safety, environmental regulations, and laboratory standards. Responsibilities:
Field Sampling & Collection
- Collect and handle samples including:
- Produced water, surface water, groundwater
- Natural gas and vapor samples
- Crude oil, condensate, bitumen, and refined products
- Soil and sediment samples for environmental monitoring
- Perform sampling at well sites, tanks, pipelines, pump stations, and processing facilities
- Follow industry standards such as ASTM, API, and company SOPs
Sample Handling & Documentation
- Label, preserve, and store samples according to regulatory and laboratory requirements
- Maintain accurate chain-of-custody documentation
- Record data in field logs and digital systems
- Prepare and transport samples to internal or third-party laboratories
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Follow all HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) policies and procedures
- Work safely in hazardous environments (H2S, confined spaces, industrial sites)
- Use required PPE and gas detection equipment
- Participate in safety meetings, hazard assessments, and incident reporting
- Ensure compliance with AER and federal environmental regulations
Equipment Operation & Maintenance
- Operate and maintain sampling equipment (cylinders, pumps, probes, gas containers)
- Perform equipment calibration, cleaning, and troubleshooting
- Coordinate with lab teams for quality assurance and control (QA/QC)
Qualifications and Skills:
- High School Diploma or equivalent

Valid Class 5 Driver's License with clean driving record

Experience in laboratory, environmental, or oil & gas field work

Strong attention to detail and data accuracy skills

Ability to work independently in remote field environments

Frequent travel to remote and industrial field locations

Outdoor work in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold)

Physically demanding work:

Lifting 25-50 lbs

Working around heavy equipment and hazardous materials
