- Friday: 8:20 AM to 12:10 PM (Staff will be required to stay longer when training is being held)*

ABOUT THE POSITION: Bassano School is seeking applications for an Educational Assistant (EA) that will share their time supporting students in their learning and development as a mainstream EA and as a Pre K EA.
On a daily basis this position will require an individual with the skill set and understanding to support Pre-K students in their stage of development as well as students with mainstream needs from kindergarten to grade 9.
This is a full-time, term position beginning August 25, 2026, and ending on June 29, 2027.

Job Duties:
- support students with instruction and learning activities, as well as their physical, social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
- encourage positive and respectful interactions between students and staff;
- work closely and collaboratively with classroom teachers , school administration, and other members of the school team.
- Provide appropriate physical support and personal care, including lifting and transferring students, as required.

Support students in participating in school activities , which may include swimming, outdoor sports, and other school-based activities.

Help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where students can succeed.
Ideal candidates skills & abilities:
- Strong written, verbal, and reading communication skills.

The ability to support students across subject areas appropriate to their grade level .

The ability to support students with literacy and numeracy development .

Excellent problem-solving, organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills .

A genuine interest in working with elementary-aged students, including Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students.

Education and Certifications:
- High school diploma.

Experience working with children or other vulnerable populations in an educational, healthcare, or related setting.
Considered an asset but not a requirement:
-
Post-secondary training in education, Educational Assistant, child development, or a related field
-
Two or more years of experience working with children or in an education setting.
- A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS
Selected candidates of choice must submit the following as a condition of employment:

A Current Criminal Record Check (CRC) with Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC).

The original document is required to be submitted, and reported within the last 6 months of hire date.
Applicants cannot work before a clear CRC with VSC has been provided and cleared by the Superintendent.
