Arowhon Pines is an all-inclusive resort open spring, summer, and fall, located in the middle of Algonquin Park, in the province of Ontario. Algonquin Park is a large nature and wildlife preserve, 3 hours from Toronto or Ottawa. Guests from all over the world visit and return, to enjoy a truly Canadian experience.

You will live and work inside gorgeous Algonquin Park and make many new friends. Accommodation and meals are provided on the grounds for a charge of $ 80/week. You will have a private renovated room with private bathroom. Three meals per day are served in our lakeside staff dining room. Staff enjoy their own dock by the lake, swim in Little Joe Lake, canoe, kayak, SUP board, hike trails to see moose and other animals, fish, relax in the staff lounge and around the bonfire. You will have access to WIFI. There are staff events and movie nights.
We accept foreign applications however you must have legal permission to work in Canada.
OUR KITCHEN: All food is made from scratch by a team of chefs. We serve three meals per day to 100+ guests in our heritage log dining room overlooking the lake. Over the years, we've worked with local purveyors, farmers and producers to ensure the very best local fare is on the menu. Our goal is to create a cuisine that is delicious, rustic, culturally diverse, made almost completely on the premises with a noticeable love and respect for the ingredients. If it’s not made here, it’s purchased from a nearby quality supplier.
Position: BAKER
Wage: $ 28 - $32 per hour, 50 hours per week, 6-day work week
Room and Board: $80/week - private room with private bathroom, all meals in our staff dining room
Flexibility with hours is expected to ensure smooth service and high standards.
Preparation and baking of all yeast products, on a weekly rotation.
Products include: baguettes, regular and gluten free loaves, burger and hot dog BBQ buns, regular and gluten free pizza dough, cornbread, scones, donuts, English muffins, bagels, challah, regular and gluten free granola, regular and vegan/gluten free muffins, lemon pound cake, short crust pastry, granola bars, gluten free brownies, banana bread, date energy balls, multigrain bread, rye, sour doughs (keep track of starters, all labelled and used in rotation), croissants, pain au chocolate, danish, turnovers, scones, etc..
Production and maintenance of par stocks of all bread and pastry products above, required by Bakeshop and other kitchen departments.
Production and maintenance of par stocks of all gluten free bread products for specialty diets.
Prepares muffin mixes, quick breads, tarts, pies, cakes, squares, and cookies, using recipes supplied by the company, under the instruction of the Pastry Baker.
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in Bakeshop to company standards. Cleans space before departing – machines, bread slicing machine, sinks, storerooms, etc.
Follows all recipes, policies and procedures of Arowhon Pines, including proper food handling methods, health and safety, and personal hygiene.
Reports to the Pastry Chef any issues or corrections needed in the Bakeshop recipes, any product needs or any issues experienced in the day-to-day operation.
Keeps track of inventories of bread flour, whole wheat flour, gluten free flour, dry yeast etc.
5-7 years of bread baking experience in a busy quality resort or high-volume restaurant.
Experience in a scratch kitchen.
Demonstrated reputation for quality and organization.
Self-starter, responsible, good work ethic.
Early person – 3 AM start
Baking and pastry diploma or REDSEAL is a definite asset.
Ability to communicate clearly in English.
Experience with baker’s schedules of early morning shifts!
