The Team
The Courtenay Court Administration team is an established and collaborative group that supports both Provincial and Supreme Court operations, helping ensure access to justice for the communities they serve. Working alongside dedicated Court and Registry professionals, the successful candidate will build strong partnerships with colleagues across Court Administration, the judiciary, and other justice sector partners while contributing to the effective delivery of court services. The Role
As a Court/Registry Clerk, you will play a key role in supporting the administration of justice by providing both court clerk services and administrative support within the court registry. This position is responsible for a variety of pre-court, in-court, and post-court duties, including preparing and reviewing court documents, recording court proceedings, maintaining exhibits, and ensuring the accurate processing of court files. Working closely with the judiciary, legal professionals, justice system partners, and members of the public, you will help ensure court operations run smoothly while delivering respectful, professional, and accessible service to diverse communities.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- Secondary school graduation or equivalent (GED).
- 1 year of experience working in an office environment; OR
- A combination of 1 year of customer service, clerical duties, office experience and education.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in keyboarding, data entry, word processing, standard computer applications and software programs (e.g., Windows, MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Must have 40 WPM keyboarding/typing
Preference may be given to applicants with:
- Experience in Court Programs and Applications (JUSTIN, CEIS, ARC, CTAS, CCD).
- Experience as a court clerk and/or registry clerk.
- 1 year of previous work experience in a court or legal environment.

About this Position:
This position is a part-time position in Courtenay. You will work up to full time for the training period then adjust to a set part-time schedule following the training.
