The Team
The Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre is a program of Provincial Services Division of the Ministry of Children and Family Development. The Maples is a designated provincial mental health facility providing on-site, community, outreach and ancillary services to collaboratively support young people, families and communities. The Maples provides services for young people aged 7 – 17 struggling with severe and enduring mental health challenges as well as young people found Not Criminally Responsible by Reason of a Mental Disorder (NCRMD) or Unfit to Stand Trial under the Criminal Code of Canada & Youth Criminal Justice Act. Additional services include community consultation service, training/capacity building opportunities and ongoing sharing of current literature. Through a multi-disciplinary approach, our objective is to collaboratively enhance the capacity of communities to plan and care for challenging young people through a closer to home focus.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Business Administrator, the Program Assistant plays a key role in supporting the daily operations of the Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre. Working collaboratively as part of a team of 12 administrative professionals, each Program Assistant is assigned designated program areas where they serve as the primary administrative support and develop specialized knowledge of the unique operational needs of those teams. This allows them to build strong working relationships and become a trusted resource for staff while ensuring consistent, high-quality administrative support.
The Program Assistant is responsible for creating and maintaining client health records, managing confidential filing systems, administering petty cash, providing front desk and reception coverage, and supporting a variety of operational and administrative functions across the organization. The role requires flexibility, collaboration, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service to help ensure the effective delivery of services to children, youth, and families.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (Dogwood, GED or Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC))).
- Experience working in an office setting.
Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:
- Diploma or certificate in public administration or business administration.
- Training, or experience, in using Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and virtual tools (Teams, Zoom).
- One (1) or more years of experience working in an office setting.
- Government or Executive Assistant experience.
- Experience filing medical or mental health records.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available. This position may be able to work up to 1 day at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
