Summary of the Position
The role of the Automation Programming & Support Specialistwill include automation and controls systems design, PLC/HMI/SCADA programming, simulation and testing, and start-up commissioning. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in developing advanced PLC and HMI logic and programming with the following software vendors:
· B&R Automation Studio / Siemens TIA Portal
· Programming experience in other PLCs like Rockwell, Beckhoff, etc. is also considered as an asset.
· Utilizing the corporate platforms, develop and support control logic and circuits and specify associated hardware for dispensing system control panels. Produce documentation such as electrical and pneumatic schematics, diagrams, physical assembly drawings and bills of materials as required to fully specify the design.
· Develop system bills of materials and associated cost model using the company’s ERP system.
· Perform any required calculations to predict and ensure the correct operation of the control system.
· Work directly with manufacturing / engineering (internal and external) and purchasing personnel to ensure a high level of manufacturability and cost effectiveness of control system designs as well ensure a high level of integrity of the design itself and the associated documentation.
· Inspection, testing and troubleshooting of controls systems.
· Interact with customers and end users for the purpose of deriving technical specifications and functional requirements of dispensing system controls and automation.
· Support sales initiatives through providing technical specifications, cost estimates, proposals, and systems application expertise.
· Perform PLC and SCADA programming, Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), site startup, commissioning, training, troubleshooting, and provide ongoing support.
· Support remotely customers on resolutions.
· Actively and positively contribute of the development of new or revised corporate business processes.
Essential Skills & Education
· Minimum 3-year college level diploma in Electromechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Controls Engineering Technology or equivalent.
· Adept in the creation of control system diagrams, circuits and drawings.
· Adept in the use of the full suite of Microsoft Office applications.
· Proficient in both written and verbal communication in English.
· Beneficial Additional Skills & Experience
· Experience working with SCADA, programmable logic controllers (PLC) and distributed control systems (DCS). Siemens preferred / B&R
· Mechanical aptitude and functional design skills.
· Working knowledge of software programming and methodologies.
· Experience working with and supporting a manufacturing environment.
