Inventory & Purchasing Coordinator
Provident Security | Vancouver, BC | Full-time, in-office
The Short Version
You'll run inventory and equipment logistics for our technical team out of our brand-new facility on Bentley Street, on Vancouver's west side. Every morning, our technicians head out to install and service security systems in some of the city's finest homes, and your job is to make sure they leave with exactly what they need. You'll manage stock levels, kit jobs, track purchase orders, and help shape how we operate in a purpose-built space we're just moving into. If you like a role that mixes hands-on work with real inventory thinking, this is a good one.
Why This Role Matters
Provident has been protecting Vancouver homes and businesses for 30 years. Our technicians can only do great work if the right equipment is ready when they are. That's you. When the warehouse runs well, crews are equipped and on time, projects stay on track, and clients are happy.
You'll report into our Finance team and work daily with our technicians and operations leadership. You're the owner of this area, but you're not on an island: purchasing decisions, project schedules, and priorities are all worked out together with the team.
What You'll Do
- Receive, process, and store incoming equipment and materials
- Kit upcoming jobs so each crew leaves with exactly what the project needs
- Manage stock levels and reorder points for core items, working with purchasing to prevent gaps
- Track outstanding purchase orders and flag delays early
- Source hard-to-find equipment when standard supply channels come up short
- Process returns for restocking, recycling, or vendor credit
- Run the occasional same-day parts delivery to a job site when a project needs it
- Keep the space clean, organized, and safe
- Help build out the systems and workflows for our new facility as we settle in
That last one is a genuine opportunity. We're in the final stages of opening the Bentley Street space, and the person in this role will help decide how it's organized and how it runs. You're not inheriting someone else's mess; you're setting it up right from the start.
The Inventory Side
This is more than receiving and shelving. We want someone who pays attention to what the numbers are saying: what we actually use, what's coming up on the project schedule, where we're carrying too much, and where we're about to run short. We use inFlow for inventory management along with HubSpot and our own custom software, and we're investing in tools and automation that make this easier, not harder. If you've used inFlow or a similar system and you like working with data as much as working with your hands, you'll do well here.
What We're Looking For
- Experience with inventory or warehouse management software
- Valid BC Class 5 driver's licence with a clean abstract
- Comfortable owning your own area and managing your own day
- Organized and accurate, with attention to detail in both the physical space and the records
- Resourceful when something is hard to find or a plan changes
- Strong written and spoken English: you'll be communicating daily with vendors, technicians, and the office, in writing and on the phone
- Background in low voltage, security, electrical, or trades supply is a plus, not a requirement
Compensation and Benefits
- $63,000 to $70,000 per year, based on experience and depth of inventory and product knowledge
- Extended health and dental coverage
- A varied, hands-on role with real impact on daily operations
- A brand-new, purpose-built facility on Vancouver's west side
