A leading national law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join its Litigation & Dispute Resolution group in Vancouver. Responsibilities:
· Preparing and compiling legal documents from written and oral instructions and precedents, including pleadings, motion records, and legal briefs
· Coordinating with process servers and filing court documentation with various levels of court
· Entering dockets and expenses, and preparing trust receipts and third-party invoices
· Proofreading and editing legal documents and correspondence
· Liaising with lawyers and colleagues to obtain information and instructions
· Assisting with organization and management of lawyers’ practices, including opening files, filing, arranging meetings, and coordinating travel/accommodations
· Scheduling examinations for discovery, applications, and trials
· Creating and maintaining bring-forward systems
· Managing calendars and keeping lawyers apprised of ongoing and outstanding matters
· Drafting routine correspondence on behalf of lawyers
Requirements:
· Legal Administrative Assistant certification from an accredited institution
· Minimum 6 years’ experience in a legal assistant role with a strong focus in civil litigation
· Strong understanding of BC civil litigation practices, procedures, and deadlines
· Familiarity with BC Supreme Court Civil Rules, BC Small Claims Court Rules, Court of Appeal Rules, Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, and Federal Court Rules
· Experience with Automated Civil Litigation (ACL), CanLII, Westlaw, and court filing online portals
· Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
· Experience with Chrome River, iManage, File Trail, and Iron Mountain considered an asset
· Strong administrative, organizational, and communication skills
· Excellent attention to detail with the ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
· Strong initiative, professionalism, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively
· Eagerness to learn new software, embrace innovation, and support process improvement initiatives
Compensation & Benefits:
· Salary range: $70,000–$75,000 annually depending on experience and qualifications
· Permanent full-time position with 4 days in-office per week
