Mechanical Designer with SolidWorks Expertise
Proficiency in Spanish is an advantage for this role to assist with effective communication with our Mexican-based fabricators and suppliers, specifically for translating technical discussions and documents accurately.

CEC Mining Systems and its sister company, Amix Systems, are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Designer with expertise in SolidWorks to join our team. This role is pivotal in ensuring seamless communication between our Vancouver office and Mexico-based fabricators and suppliers. The successful candidate will translate discussions and documents between Spanish and English, effectively communicating complex engineering and managerial concepts.
We are looking for a candidate with extensive experience in Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) of grout mixing batch plants (heavy industrial) and/or dewatering disc filters (metallurgical process equipment). Experience with ceramic disc filtration and/or grout mixing equipment will be considered a significant advantage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed 3D models and mechanical drawings using SolidWorks, ensuring precision and adherence to project requirements.
- Generate and review IFC drawings and BOMs for equipment and components.
- Translate technical and managerial documents and discussions accurately between Spanish and English.
- Collaborate on the design, value engineering, fabrication, and factory acceptance testing (FAT) of OEM equipment and EPCM projects.
- Conduct value-engineering trade-off evaluations for equipment and component alternatives and provide input for design optimization studies.
- Support R&D initiatives by conceptualizing prototypes and implementing new technologies.
- Participate in HAZOP studies to ensure design safety and compliance with industry standards.
- Provide recommendations for improvements to mechanical systems and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance performance and reliability.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Spanish and English, with demonstrated ability to translate technical and managerial content.
- Advanced expertise in SolidWorks.
- Extensive experience in OEM manufacturing, particularly with heavy industrial and/or metallurgical process equipment.
- Strong background in ceramic disc filtration and grout mixing equipment is highly desirable.
- Excellent understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Willingness to travel to vendor and client sites as required.
