Full job description

Position: Retail Clerk / Barista
Position Type: Full-time/Part-time based on availability
Location: Lukes Drug Mart - Bridgeland and Killarney locations

Family-run. Family-friendly. Three generations of family ownership later we are still operating in our original location in Bridgeland. With the additions of soft serve, coffee service, vinyl records, lifestyle items and grocery as well as a second location in Killarney established in 2010, Lukes aims to offer a one stop shop for everyday living.

Key Responsibilities:

Working closely with the Store Managers and other team members, you will be responsible for:

Greet customers in a friendly and welcoming manner
Operate the POS (point-of-sale) to process customer transactions for retail, coffee orders and grocery items
Maintain a clean, tidy, and organized retail space and coffee bar area, adhering to food safety guidelines
Prepare coffee, tea, and other specialty beverages orders
Prepare soft serve orders and ensure the soft serve machine is clean and filled
Replenish stock on retail shelves and ensure merchandise is tidy
Assist with stocking new deliveries
Educate customers about product offerings and make recommendations
Ensure adequate stock levels of supplies and consumables for the coffee bar area
Other duties as required

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

Minimum 1 year experience in customer service
Availability for min of 2 closing shifts on weekdays and open availability weekends (Sat/Sun)
Previous experience in retail or food service roles is preferred
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Attention to detail and organizational skills
Basic math skills for cash handling
Knowledge of food safety practices is an asset
Familiarity with coffee brewing equipment and techniques is an asset
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs
Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays
Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
